Striped night dress 2011-10-03 10:34
Constraints are often frustrating, preventing you from achieving your goal, making you feel angry.
But sometimes an unexpected constraint can be exactly what you need, giving you a good push to reconsider your original ideas and enabling you to come up with simple and creative thoughts. And when that happens, it’s very exciting!
First constraint: I only used remains of fabric to do this nightdress, so the size of each of the fabric was limited and I had to mix 2 fabrics to get enough to make a dress. The brown jersey was initially used for the brown bag dress and the striped fabric for a test polo for Romain (one of the first thing that I did when I begun sewing… No need to say it’s only wearable as a pyjama!).
Second constraint: the remains that I used didn’t have a clean shape like rectangles, but contained holes. The cut outs in the back are a result of using those holes to create a nice back look.
