Recycled skirt 2011-05-15 21:40

My friend Åse has a great idea to recycle a dress she’s not wearing anymore into a skirt, and I’m happy I can help her realize this.
Last week end was all about preparation: we talked about her project and agreed on how the to-be skirt will look like – A-line with 2 pockets, closed by an invisible zip.
We then cut open the dress on the kitchen table, I felt like a murderer during a second, with my tailoring scissors…
We ended up the preps by going out to shop black linen and an invisible zip.
And this week end has been about starting up to sew! First we cut the fabric according to the pattern, including the pockets (pattern on the picture above), then we started to overlock the fabric edges in order to prevent them from tearing apart after a few wasches. We talked a lot and had a nice fruit break and then 3 hours were already gone, just like that. Already looking forward to finish the skirt and see Åse wearing it!
